IAWA Q3 Letter from the President Resilience. Response. Recovery.
Change is hard. Even when we want to change, when we want to adopt healthier eating, better exercise routines or consistent sleep schedules, we fall back into past behaviors. Our brain is disinclined to accept and adopt change. It’s why we ignore commitments we make to ourselves in exchange for doing what is more comfortable. It’s also why we regard the past fondly and long for the way things used to be. Use the Hashtag #IAWA2020 to share and engage on social media. This year's IAWA Conference Planning Committee has been hard at work putting together an exciting program that includes both live and on-demand content. Over the course of the last couple of weeks, we've been releasing communications highlighting the panels that will take place live on October 15. However, there's so much content that it is not possible to fit it all into one day. Bonus on-demand content will also be available on October 14 and feature 9 panels and two educational sessions. More about these two sessions are included below; a full list can be found on the IAWA website. Watch these panels at your own leisure - remember - registration includes access to the content for 30 days. Don't forget to visit our Exhibit Hall too! On-Demand Content Dr. Jennifer Stern Planetary Scientist, NASA Goddard Space Flight Center Exploring Mars/Mars Rover On August 6, 2012 at 1:32 a.m. EDT, the Mars Science Laboratory Rover Curiosity touched down in Gale Crater, Mars, making history as the largest and most capable rover to ever land on Mars. For over eight Earth years (or four Mars years), Curiosity has used its versatile payload consisting of 10 instruments to explore and assess Gale Crater as a potential habitat for life, past and present. Our mission is to answer two major questions: 1) Was Mars capable of supporting life 3.5 billion years ago? 2) Does Mars have the capacity to support life today, either in the form of alien microbiology or in the form of human explorers? The science performed by the Curiosity rover has resulted in several “firsts” that have contributed to our ability to answer these questions as well as help us prepare for human exploration of Mars. Coupled with past and ongoing missions to the Red Planet, these recent discoveries allow us to view the biological potential of the Red Planet in a new way.
Pamela Suarez Former President of JIAAC in Argentina Public Management: Female Leadership and Strategic Planning Changes Industries Female leadership in XXI Century requires a focalized and strategic coordination in team management, together with an organized culture, creating ideas, values and a satisfactory working environment with gender equality and opportunities. Organizations must tear down all obstacles that do not permit active female participation. Industries, including all its sectors, would maximize achievement if they support gender equality and encourage partnerships between men and women. Member News IAWA Member, Amanda Applegate, published an article on Cross Border Transactions during a Pandemic During the global pandemic, many US based aircraft buyers are only considering US registered aircraft due to the logistical challenges caused by COVID-19. However, a willing buyer with an expert acquisition team may be able to find a better pedigreed foreign-registered aircraft at a lower price in today’s market. Cross border transactions in 2020 are unpredictable, challenging, time consuming and require a team who can handle unexpected issues and react to various situations which may arise. Here are some of the important elements to consider in these complicated 2020 cross border transactions.
