IAWA Welcomes Maria E. Gonzalez to Its Board of Directors

IAWA announces the addition of Maria E. Gonzalez. She is a Shareholder of McAfee & Taft and has accepted the position as IAWA Vice President of Association Development (Sponsorship). This position will lead IAWA's revenue generation and sponsorship programs.

MOUNT ROYAL, NJ - The International Aviation Womens Association (IAWA), a global association committed to connecting, inspiring and leading women in the aviation industry, announced the addition of Maria E. Gonzalez. She is a Shareholder of McAfee & Taft and has accepted the position as IAWA Vice President of Association Development (Sponsorship). This position will lead IAWA's revenue generation and sponsorship programs.

"The IAWA Board is tremendously excited to have Maria, an achieved aviation lawyer, join our leadership team as the VP of Association Development," said Bobbi Wells, President of IAWA. "Maria has been extremely supportive of IAWA's initiatives, which IAWA is grateful for and trusts she will continue to add great value to IAWA. She brings a wealth of knowledge, experience, and passion for gender balance in aviation and aerospace."

In 2006, Maria E. Gonzalez joined McAfee & Taft. Her practice focuses on aviation matters, including the documentation of aircraft transactions and aircraft title and registration matters. She is responsible for the review of Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) records for aircraft, engines and propellers and advising clients regarding title issues as well as liens and encumbrances of record at the FAA. She also ensures compliance with FAA regulations and procedures and advises clients on matters arising under the Cape Town Convention of the filings of interests and prospective interests in aircraft with the International Registry.

As well, Maria has co-authored of the chapter "The Cape Town Convention: Key Issues for the Practitioner" featured in the International Comparative Legal Guide to Aviation Law 2013, published by the Global Legal Group.

To qualify for general IAWA membership, applicants must have five years of aviation industry experience in a management or executive level position. In order to become a member of the Board, significant aviation leadership experience and a demonstrated passion for creating gender balance are essential for consideration.
